The actual guest book in the museum is a hand-bound faux leopard skin book. An asparagus pen is used to write visitors' names and comments.
The pen of course, belongs to the Jolly Green Giant.

Julie 3/25/2002 McDonald's Gang - I believe that you incorrectly place Officer Big Mac as Mayor McCheese. Mayor McCheese wears a purple suit and a pocket watch. Officer Big Mack is the figure in the blue police outfit. Mayor McCheese would not be happy with the demotion, given that he is technically Officer Big Mack's boss.

Bill Kirby 11/03/2001 I had read so many times of your museum but never thought to try to locate it on the web.I think your presentation is marvelous.A shelf by shelf tour wonderful. My wife and I are avid collectors and not to brag but I have a great many of your ad icons in my collection and quite a few that you don't but that's what collecting is all about. In addition to ad figures I collect all manner of collectible items from Tim Burton's Disney/Touchstone stop-action cult animation classic Nightmare Before Christmas and I also have a fairly large collection of swizzle sticks many wonderful figural ones including a few neat advertising ones i.e. Elsie for Borden's.I collect anything with to do with devil images so I have the Flametech screw figure as well as a number of other devil related product items.I know they are a great deal of fun and I hope amassing the museum's neat collection gave a few people some pleasure.I knoow I will be visiting the site often in the future for ideas and inspiration.Hopefully my wife will visit in the near future and share a little of her collections.they are equally wonderful although a little more feminine in nature but fabulous all the same and much of them ad related.I know I've enjoyed helping her find and build her collections and just to let you in breifly upon hers they fall under the broad label of ladies vanity items but that doesn't even begin to explain.Sorry to take up so much time nad room but I think collecting is fun and contagious and there is nothing more engaging then a bunch of collectors getting together and discussing there passion. Thanks for your time and attention, Kindest Regards, Bill

As a little girl I owned the Pillsbury doughboy and left him behind when we moved. I never forgot about him, and the first time I saw him at an antique shoppe, I purchased him. I have been looking for the other items for years, but with no luck. Until this Christmas they were given to me as a present. I was so thrilled to get them, I cried. It is wonderful how you are displaying these items for all to see. Continued sucess to your museum.

The LOVE Rhino 1/15/2001 I don't see Kiss or Beatles dolls, and although these aren't advertising icons per se, in my humble opinion, they were used to market the product of their music

Francis Leveille 1/14/2001 brought back a lot of memories wish there was sound. thanks.
Ray 1/14/2001 I can help you out a bit with McGruff the Crime Dog's backround. He was created in 1978, and his first print ad had the headline "You don't know me yet, but you soon will". The ad went on to tell how McGruff would be featured in upcoming public service advertisements for crime prevention. He was soon joined by a nephew sidekick Scruffy, and has been featured in both print and television ads. Items bearing his likeness include McGruff masks, plush dolls, and crime prevention videos and comic books. There is also a life-size McGruff which makes appearences at various police functions.
javier rico 1/13/2001 very cool site
richard parrilla 1/12/2001 I'm in class right now doing a report about a site I was to choose, and this is the one I choose. I really like this site, it's educational while at the same time entertaining. I really enjoyed seeing the origainal Jack-In-The-Box Jack, because all I'm used to seeing is the big-headed one they have now and I'm really into past nostalga (don't know how to spell it) kinds of things. This is a really great site.

Christina T. Terrazas 1/09/2001 The Toymuseum is great. All I need to comment on is the web about the Jolly Green Giant. You could insert some games or activities about the Giant. Other than that it was great.

The Mushroom 1/03/2001 Unless "Hugh" is his nickname, the guy who does the voice of Tony The Tiger is _Thurl_ Ravenscroft. So sayeth the trivia books and a recent interview with the man himself. Thurl Ravenscroft, now in his 80's, says that he can hardly walk into a grocery store without someone asking him to say the word "great" -- which after this much time he can't say *without* sounding like Tony. :)
Sheryl Guillory 1/03/2001 First time.
NAT COHEN 1/03/2001 HAVE NOT SEEN IT AS YET
The Mushroom 1/03/2001 Energizer Bunny comments: The squeeze light is lit by squeezing the DRUM, not the rabbit's midriff (notice that the arms are jointed at the shoulder thus move around). The 'life-size' bunny was released twice -- first time, with the old "space" italic font on the drum as a banner and the sunglasses were wraparound like from an optometrist's office after having your eyes dialated, the second (depicted on this site) in the new sans serif font on a battery and the glasses appear to really be sunglasses. [I have the first.] There are plenty of other Bunny premiums around, including a Christmas stocking, a set of plastic "crystal" Christmas ornaments, a slick washable doll for baby, and a 4"-plus-ears beanbag character (plus items with his image on them such as shirts, boxers, battery cases, calendars, etc which don't fit this museum's critera squarely).
The Mushroom 1/03/2001 Gallery 11: Wendy (Snapple) is a real human, who like her character in the TV ads answers the phones. Snapple figured that since she gets asked unique questions, why not have her answer them? She's still with the company, but her character in ads has been retired. Maybe she'll be back someday? Also, the Scrubbing Bubble -- was voiced by Paul Winchell, better known for the voice of Tigger in the classic "Winnie The Pooh" movies.

Mike Anderson 11/21/2000 I saw your museum on a TV show on the FX network a couple years ago and just found your web site. GREAT WORK!!!! I have a thousand or so ad characters and toys so it is really fun to look at your collection. The site design and execution is just excellent. I think your Punchy character is one of a set of game pieces which came in several colors. I have yellow and have seen blue and green.Hopefully I'll get to visit your collection in person one of these days. It is a long way from Seattle tho. Keep up the good and fun work...!

Richard de Montebello 11/02/2000 Hello: I am the President of The Happy Kids Toy Company and the publisher of SaberCat Comics, featuring (c) The Adventures of Browser and Sequoia 1993-2000 TM comic book series. It's a story about a young Indian boy who befriends a mammoth some 14,000 years ago. We also have two plush toys for sale. I would like to send you samples. Regards, Richard
Greg Robertson 11/01/2000 As an ad guy by profession and a toy nut by avocation, I find this to be the perfect museum.
Duanne R Namaksy 10/31/2000 Just arrived...

grace pineda 10/25/2000 thank you it was great!!!
Jackie Comeau 10/25/2000 This was museum is great. I couldn't remember where Woodsy Owl was from but I remembered his name. What a great surprise to not only find out where he was from but a picture and history too! Although you didn't have a discription for Choo Choo Charlie, I do think I can help you... Wasn't he the icon for the candy "Good n'Plenty"? His outfit is the same color as the candy and the commercial had a train on it.
Mimmo Cozzolino 10/22/2000 What a fantastic surprise. I just typed in "icons of Australia", a subject matter that I am interested in, and up came this amazing collection of American advertising art. Keep up the good work. When is the book coming out? While you are at it, check out my web site for an associated topic at www.SymbolsofAustralia.com
Jay Castellani 10/21/2000 Your museum reminds me of a time when children could be trusted to stick a plastic eyeball into a real potatoe without punture wounds being a playtime concern.Refreshing.
Vanessa Gibson 10/21/2000 A wonderful trip down memory lane. Thank you.
Ernest Martin 10/19/2000 The Museum is pretty snappy in appearance, I am interested in seeing the same look with QuePasa.com. I think QuePasa.com was ahead of its time and failed to attract more users but I also feel it will soon be recognized for the contribution it has already made in the Hispanic market place and may come back stronger than ever.
Curt Greisen 10/19/2000 Not Bad!

Patty Carroll 9/06/2000 You have a great museum! Since you make these toys, are they available for purchase? Do you have to go through the company etc.? I am looking for hot dog memoribilia for a book that I am doing on hot dog stands, and would only like to photograph the stuff or get photographs of it to possibly use if I can't get a hold of the items myself. Thanks, Patty
tone 9/03/2000 I don't particularly collect this type of toy, but this web site is lots of fun, and informative. I found out about it in a magazine, rather than through a link or from doing a search! I wish there were more sites like this, rather than people just trying to sell toys easily available at retail stores and / or flea markets.
